Before the hospital was built, the site was closely associated with Kolster-Brandes (KB), a famous radio and television manufacturer.
The factory was a major employer in the area for decades.
When the hospital was constructed in the late 1980s and early 90s, it essentially replaced the industrial heart of that part of The Ridge, shifting the site from electronics manufacturing to modern healthcare.
