Conquest Hospital Triumphs at Family Football Fun Day
The community spirit was high and the competition even higher as Conquest Hospital secured a thrilling victory at the Annual Hospital Cup, marking their fifth win in the last six years.
The event, organised by The Friends of Conquest Hospital, brought together over 100 players of all ages for a day of sport, inclusion, and fundraising. The Family Football Fun Day featured a diverse lineup of matches, showcasing talent from across the town and beyond.
A Day of Inclusive Sport
The festivities kicked off with a series of friendly matches featuring youth teams from:
- Hastings United Club Academy

In a particularly highlight-worthy match, the Disability & Inclusion Teams from Hastings United and Eastbourne Borough F.C. faced off in a spirited contest. The game was decided in dramatic fashion by a “last-minute screamer” from Hastings United, clinching the win for the home side.
The Main Event: The Hospital Cup
The climax of the day saw the Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH teams, battle for the prestigious Annual Hospital Cup. Following a hard-fought and intense 90 minutes, Conquest Hospital emerged victorious.
Andy from Team Conquest was named Man of the Match for his standout performance on the pitch.
Community Support and Fundraising
The event proved to be a massive success for local healthcare, raising over £1,500 for the Conquest Hospital. These vital funds were made possible through the generous support of local sponsors, including:
- Hastings United FC
- Lightning Fibre
- Sussex Police
The Friends of Conquest Hospital extended a huge thank you to everyone who participated and cheered from the sidelines.
Looking Ahead
While the Conquest Hospital celebrates their victory this year, the challenge has already been set for 2027. Next year’s Hospital Cup will be hosted by Eastbourne, where the DGH team will be hoping that home-field advantage helps them reclaim the trophy.
