A High-Tech Gift of Joy for Kipling Ward

Patients on the Kipling Children’s Ward at Conquest Hospital have a bright new reason to smile. Thanks to a generous local collaboration, the ward has officially welcomed a state-of-the-art projector-based play therapy system, transforming the clinical environment into an interactive wonderland for recovering children.

The cutting-edge technology projects games, puzzles, and sensory landscapes directly onto any wall or blank surface, allowing children of all physical abilities to engage in immersive play. Whether they are popping virtual bubbles or swooshing fish or any of the other 300 games included, the system provides a vital distraction from the stresses of hospital life and encourages physical movement—a key component of many recovery plans.

“This innovative system will make a significant difference to the experience of our patients, especially those with physical limitations that may restrict their ability to play with other toys and games. By providing interactive and engaging play, it will help reduce anxiety, support emotional wellbeing, and offer a positive distraction during what can often be a challenging time in hospital said Jeza, Matron of the Kipling Ward and Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Unit. “The system will also encourage movement, social interaction, and cognitive stimulation, all of which can contribute positively to recovery and overall morale on the ward. Your generosity will have a lasting impact, helping us to create a more welcoming, therapeutic, and child-friendly environment for our patients and their families. Donations such as yours genuinely transform the care we are able to provide.”

This significant addition to the ward was made possible by the philanthropic efforts of The Twelve Electric and Simon Millard of local electrical wholesaler Phase Electrical Distributors. Recognising the impact that play has on a child’s healing process, the donors stepped in to ensure that young patients at the Conquest Hospital have access to the same high-quality facilities found in major specialist centres.

“We are incredibly grateful for this donation,” said Jo Clark, General Manager of the Friends of Conquest Hospital “Hospital stays can be a frightening experience for children. This projector doesn’t just provide entertainment; it provides a sense of normalcy and joy that can significantly boost a child’s morale during their treatment.”

The arrival of the system highlights the growing partnerships between local businesses and The Friends of Conquest Hospital. The Twelve Electric and Phase Electrical Distributors have provided equipment that will benefit hundreds of local families for years to come.

The staff, parents, and most importantly, the children of Kipling Ward would like to extend a huge thank you to Simon Millard and the teams at The Twelve Electric and Phase Electrical Distributors for their kindness and commitment to the local community.
